About the competition

Usually, an essay about If I were the Prime Minister is meant to spark imagination about leadership and governance, but it often drifts into vague promises. This competition shifts the focus to security roles, such as Commissioner of Police or Head of Security, so that writers can explore everyday realities. Participants are expected to think about practical challenges including crime prevention, public safety, disaster response, cyber threats, and community trust. The topic encourages problem-solving by asking writers to imagine concrete steps rather than broad policies. It also aims to cultivate realistic civic imagination instead of only lofty political dreams.

Eligibility and rules

• Open to participants aged 16 years and above.
• Essay must be original and written by the applicant.
• Maximum length: 1,500 words.
• Accepted languages: English and Hindi.
• Submit the essay as a PDF or DOCX file.
• Only one entry is permitted per participant.
